The Star Inn St Mary's In The Marsh

St Mary's in the Marsh.

Set in the beautiful Romney Marsh the village od St Mary's in the Marsh has amazing views across the fields and south downs. The festival is held on land next to the Star Inn, the cottage adjacent to the pub was once the residence of Noel Coward and it was here that he wrote his first successful play "The Vortex". Opposite the Star Inn is the Norman church St Mary's dating as far back as 1133 AD which was built on top of the original wooden Saxon church. As with most Marsh churches it was used by smugglers to store their contraband and, more recently is the final resting place of Edith Nesbitt Author of acclaimed children's novel "The Railway Children" who is buried in the graveyard.

St mary's in the Marsh provides a wonderful setting for our festival with it's beautiful scenery and an opportunity to enjoy excellent music, good food and great company.
